Update on Browser Compatability

Over the last week I redesigned this site to comply with Firefox 3.5, IE 7.0, IE 8.0, and Chrome 3.0. I decided to design around these browsers because they're ranked in the top seven by w3schools.com. After testing using Browsershots.org, the site appears to look OK.

I'm a novice a web site design and learned a couple of valuable lessons from this exercise. The first is that you have to consider all types of different browsers and not just the ones that you use at home or at work. Previous to last week I was working under the incorrect assumption that if the site validates it would automatically work in all browsers. The second is that styling with CSS is by no means straightforward. For example, to get this site to work in Firefox 3.5 I had to use images as opposed to the CSS backcolor commands.

Hopefully the site looks better now. If it doesn't I would appreciate a quick note letting me know what browser you're using. And thanks again to Tim for letting me know.
